Safety & Quality

Safety

Before our fieldwork commences, Benchmark’s quality and safety leadership ensures that each project has a written Site Safety Plan, a Quality Assurance and Testing plan, and that all our teammates have bought-in to the plan. In addition, the site is toured to identify consistency between field conditions and those listed in the job specs. Plans are updated accordingly and communicated to relevant personnel. Each project is staffed with a team who has received direct training by glass and glazing manufacturers on their products or direct oversight from expert Benchmark leadership. During installation, each site is regularly visited by our Safety and Quality Manager. Toolbox (safety) talks are regularly held by field staff to ensure identified hazards remain front and center in mitigation efforts by our team of installers. Benchmark invests in safety equipment including personal fall protection, and personal protective equipment for all onsite personnel.

Quality

Our dedication to this goal has led us at Benchmark to create a fully independent Safety and Quality department; something that sets us in a league of our own, apart from many of our direct competitors. Our Safety and Quality department reports directly to the President of Benchmark and both supports operations, and serves our team by training and holding our teammates accountable to our rigorous safety and quality standards. Our quality procedures provide our customers greater assurance that their products will perform as specified, dramatically reducing hassle, warranty claims, or other losses during and after project completion. During the planning and preconstruction phases for all Benchmark-awarded projects, we perform formal quality and safety assessments that cover hazard and risk elements, developing field conditions, system complexity, manufacturer’s instructions, and our team’s capabilities and training. Once the first openings have been installed and throughout fieldwork, Benchmark's Quality Team performs voluntary testing to ensure that the glazing systems are performing to architectural specifications. Benchmark regularly administers Spray Nozzle testing, Water Penetration testing, and is also able to perform Air Infiltration testing. Our customers find that this dramatically reduces delays as the project progresses into the finalization stages, and also mitigates potential warranty claims once the building has been inhabited. All these are elements of our dedication to delivering the best results to our customers and to keeping our valuable team safe every day.

I’m glad Meridian on First Apartments worked out so well. As always, we are glad when we can partner with Benchmark Building Enclosure on a project. We appreciate your continued hard work and look forward to doing another job with you soon.

I had the pleasure of working with Benchmark throughout the construction of our beautiful clubhouse at The Monarch at Waugh Chapel. Benchmark’s expertise in storefront was showcased early and often.

Ben Gilsten, Project Manager - Bozzuto Construction

No one knows more about windows and glazing than Richard Paulding of Benchmark Building Enclosure, Inc. It was my great pleasure to work with Richard on a complex project in which windows, doors and curtainwall had to be carefully coordinated and detailed.

James Gauer, Architect - JAMES GAUER architecture

Meridian on First Apartments was a tough façade but everyone stayed in the game. Good work Benchmark!

Chris Evans, Sr. Project Manager - Paradigm Construction

Benchmark’s team was actively engaged in helping solve problems throughout the course of our projects together. They anticipated issues without prompting, which is a valuable and rare trait in a subcontractor. I will definitely be using them on future work.
